## Investment Advice & Wealth Management in Swansea

Whether you are investing a lump sum, an inheritance or the proceeds of a business sale, or saving on a regular basis, the principles are the same: a portfolio built around your goals, your timescale and the level of risk you are genuinely comfortable with, then reviewed regularly as your life and the markets change.

## What our investment advice includes

- **A proper risk conversation.** Your adviser establishes your attitude to risk and your capacity for loss before anything is invested. Our investment process explains how.
- **A risk-rated portfolio.** Your money is invested in line with one of our five model portfolios, from Cautious to Adventurous, with ethical versions available at every risk level.
- **Tax-efficient structuring.** We hold your investments in the right wrappers: ISAs, pensions, general investment accounts and investment bonds.
- **Ongoing reviews.** An annual review with a written performance report and portfolio statement, plus rebalancing when your portfolio drifts from its target risk level.

## Investing tax-efficiently

The wrapper around an investment is often worth as much as the investment selection inside it:

- **Stocks & Shares ISAs:** invest up to £20,000 per person each tax year, with growth and withdrawals free of UK tax.
- **Pensions and SIPPs:** tax relief on contributions and tax-free growth, within the £60,000 annual allowance.
- **General investment accounts:** useful once allowances are used, managed around the shrinking capital gains and dividend allowances.
- **Investment bonds and, for suitable sophisticated investors, VCTs and EIS,** which carry significant additional risk and are not right for most people.

Moving existing holdings into better wrappers is one of the most common improvements we make for new clients.

## Independent advice, local service

As independent advisers we select from the whole market, not a restricted panel. Most of our clients are in Swansea, Gower and the wider South Wales area, and we meet at our offices, your home or business, or by video call. SIP Wealth Management is the trading name of M4 Financial Group Ltd, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 583474).

*The value of investments and the income from them can fall as well as rise and you may get back less than you invested. Past performance is not a guide to future performance. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change.*

## Frequently Asked Questions

How much do I need to start investing with an adviser?[admin](https://sipwealthmanagement.co.uk/author/admin/)
2026-08-20T08:36:42+01:00## [How much do I need to start investing with an adviser?](#collapse-1-1851)

We would typically recommend a minimum investment (across investment & pensions) of £100,000. Though we assess each enquiry on a case-by-case basis.

What is the difference between investment advice and wealth management?[admin](https://sipwealthmanagement.co.uk/author/admin/)
2026-08-20T08:37:05+01:00## [What is the difference between investment advice and wealth management?](#collapse-1-1853)

In practice, wealth management is investment advice with ongoing portfolio care at its core: your adviser recommends how your money should be invested, reviews it with you regularly, and plans the surrounding tax, pension and estate issues. At SIP Wealth Management the same adviser handles all of it, and nothing changes in your portfolio without your agreement.

Are my investments protected?[admin](https://sipwealthmanagement.co.uk/author/admin/)
2026-08-20T08:37:31+01:00## [Are my investments protected?](#collapse-1-1855)

Investments themselves can fall in value and that risk is not insurable. However, as clients of an FCA-regulated firm, eligible investors are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, which protects up to £120,000 per person per authorised firm if a regulated firm fails. This is protection against firm failure, not against market movements.

Should I invest through an ISA or a pension first?[admin](https://sipwealthmanagement.co.uk/author/admin/)
2026-08-20T08:37:58+01:00## [Should I invest through an ISA or a pension first?](#collapse-1-1857)

It depends on when you need access and your tax position. Pensions usually win on pure tax efficiency because of upfront tax relief, but the money is locked away until at least age 55 (57 from 2028). ISAs offer full flexibility with tax-free growth. Most long-term plans use both; we model the right order for you.

Do you use active or passive funds?[admin](https://sipwealthmanagement.co.uk/author/admin/)
2026-08-20T08:38:23+01:00## [Do you use active or passive funds?](#collapse-1-1859)

Both, where each earns its place. Passive funds provide low-cost market exposure; active managers are used where we believe they justify their fees. Our fund selection and monitoring process reviews this continuously.

How often will you review my investments?[admin](https://sipwealthmanagement.co.uk/author/admin/)
2026-08-20T08:38:48+01:00## [How often will you review my investments?](#collapse-1-1861)

Formally at least once a year, with a written report, plus rebalancing recommendations and contact whenever markets or legislation make a change advisable. You can speak to your adviser at any time.
